What you need to know about entering Spain to attend IPA 2027 — and how the secretariat can help.
Spain is part of the Schengen Area. Citizens of Schengen and European Union countries can enter Spain freely with a valid national ID card or passport. Citizens of countries with a visa-waiver agreement with the Schengen Area may enter for short stays (up to 90 days in any 180-day period) without a visa, provided they hold a valid passport.

From 2026 onwards, travellers from visa-exempt countries are expected to obtain a European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) authorisation before entering the Schengen Area. ETIAS is not a visa, but an online travel authorisation similar to the US ESTA.
The conference secretariat can issue a personalised letter of invitation to support your visa application. Letters are only issued to registered delegates and to authors of accepted papers; they confirm your role and the dates of the conference but do not constitute a financial guarantee.
To request an invitation letter, please write to ipa2027@ubu.es indicating your full name as it appears on your passport, your passport number, your affiliation and the dates for which you need the letter.
Plan ahead. Visa processing can take several weeks. Please apply as soon as your registration and paper acceptance are confirmed.
