Two intensive days of feedback, dialogue and community for doctoral students and early-career researchers working at the interdisciplinary frontiers of accounting.
The Emerging Scholars Colloquium (ESC) precedes the main IPA Conference and offers a unique space for early-career researchers to make their research projects visible and receive feedback from prestigious faculty and outstanding doctoral students. We strongly encourage PhD students conducting their research with an interdisciplinary approach to submit their projects and take part.
Participation is limited to 40 emerging scholars selected through an open call. The selected participants will receive feedback from some members of the ESC faculty.
The ESC is aimed at doctoral students and early-career researchers (typically within three years of completing a PhD) whose work engages with the interdisciplinary tradition of IPA. Applicants must submit a research paper — full or in progress — together with a short statement describing their research trajectory and what they hope to gain from the colloquium.
The colloquium will be held at the University of Burgos, Hospital del Rey site. It is a short walk from the city centre and from the Fórum Evolución, where the main conference takes place. Further details on rooms and logistics will be communicated to accepted participants in advance.
The conference secretariat will negotiate preferential rates with university residences in Burgos for the nights of 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 July 2027, so that ESC participants who also stay for the main conference can keep a single, affordable booking.
The ESC is organised by Nicolás García-Torea and Carlos Larrinaga, on behalf of the ERGO Research Group at the University of Burgos.
