Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we receive most often. Cannot find what you need? Write to ipa2027@ubu.es.

Registration & fees

When does registration open?
Registration opening date and fees are still to be confirmed. We will announce both on this website and via the main academic mailing lists as soon as the platform is ready.
Who issues the invoice for my registration?
Registration fees are invoiced directly by the University of Burgos. You can request a customised invoice with your institution’s billing details during the registration process.
Can I attend only the ESC without registering for the main conference?
Yes. The ESC has its own registration. ESC participants are also welcome — and encouraged — to stay for the main conference, with a combined registration option.

Paper submission

Do I need to submit an abstract or a full paper?
IPA 2027 accepts full papers. Submissions should report substantively complete research, although work in progress is welcome if the manuscript is sufficiently developed for the reviewers and discussant to engage with it.
How is review conducted?
All papers go through a double-blind review process. By submitting, authors agree to act as reviewers for other papers; authors of accepted papers also agree to act as discussants for another paper at the conference.
What language can I submit in?
All submissions, communications and conference activities are in English.
Can I submit to both the IPA Conference and the ESC?
You should choose the stream that best fits your career stage and your work. The same online platform handles both, and you will be asked to indicate the stream at the start of the submission.

Travel & accommodation

What is the closest airport to Burgos?
The two practical options are Madrid-Barajas (MAD) — connected to Burgos by frequent high-speed trains in under two hours — and Bilbao (BIO), with many direct flights from across Europe and a two-hour coach to Burgos.
Will there be official hotel rates?
Yes. The secretariat is negotiating preferential rates with 3- and 4-star hotels for the conference dates and with university residences. Booking links will be published on the Accommodation page.
Do I need a visa to enter Spain?
It depends on your nationality. Spain is part of the Schengen Area; many travellers do not need a visa for short stays. See the Visa Information page for details, and request an invitation letter from the secretariat if you need one.

At the conference

Will there be a printed programme?
All delegates receive a physical name badge and a printed pocket programme as part of the welcome kit. The full scientific programme is also available online.
Are there accessibility provisions at the venues?
Both the Fórum Evolución and the Campus San Amaro are fully accessible. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please indicate them at registration or write to ipa2027@ubu.es in advance.
What about dietary requirements?
All catering services accommodate dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher) and provide information on allergens. Please indicate any food intolerances at registration.
Do presenters receive a certificate?
Yes. All presenters receive a digital certificate of presentation, issued through the submission platform after the conference.
